Pause & Resume Posts
Put scheduled posts on hold and resume them when you're ready
Pause & Resume Posts
Sometimes you need to hold a scheduled post without deleting it or losing the scheduled time. The Pause feature lets you put any scheduled post into a holding pattern until you're ready to go ahead.
How it works
When you pause a post:
- The post status changes to Paused (shown as a gray badge)
- The original scheduled time is preserved so you can see when it was going to go out
- The post is removed from the publish queue and will not be published automatically
- You can still edit the post caption and media while it's paused
When you resume a post:
- If the original scheduled time is still in the future, the post returns to Scheduled and will publish at that time
- If the original time has already passed, you'll be prompted to pick a new time
Pausing a post
You can pause a post from any view:
- List view — Click the gray Pause button on any scheduled post
- Table view — Click the pause icon (⏸) on any scheduled post
- Calendar view — Click a post to open the detail modal, then select Pause from the More Actions dropdown
- Card view — Click a post to open the detail modal, then select Pause from the More Actions dropdown
Pausing is instant — no confirmation dialog is needed since it's easily reversible.
Resuming a post
Paused posts show a green Resume button:
- List view — Click the green Resume button
- Table view — Click the play icon (▶) on paused posts
- Post modal — Select Resume from the More Actions dropdown (it appears at the top)
If the original scheduled time has passed, you'll see a message asking you to pick a new time. The reschedule dialog will open automatically.
Bulk pause & resume
In Table view, you can select multiple posts and use the bulk action buttons:
- Pause Selected — Pauses all selected scheduled posts
- Resume Selected — Resumes all selected paused posts. Any posts whose scheduled time has passed will need to be rescheduled individually.
Other actions on paused posts
While a post is paused, you can:
- Edit the caption or media in the composer
- Save as Draft to move it to your drafts
- Delete to remove it permanently
- Duplicate to create a copy
You cannot Post Now or Reschedule a paused post directly — resume it first.
Filtering paused posts
Use the Status filter in the dashboard to filter by Paused to see all your held posts at a glance.
Pause vs. Save as Draft
| Pause | Save as Draft | |
|---|---|---|
| Keeps scheduled time | Yes | No (reset to far future) |
| Stays in calendar/list | Yes | Moves to Drafts |
| Quick to resume | Yes (one click) | Need to reschedule manually |
| Best for | Temporarily holding a post | Reworking content from scratch |
