How to Schedule Bluesky Posts with posterly
Connecting Bluesky
Go to Accounts and click Connect Bluesky. Enter your Bluesky handle (e.g. yourname.bsky.social) and an App Password. Never use your main password, create a dedicated App Password in Bluesky Settings > App Passwords. posterly automatically resolves your PDS (Personal Data Server) for custom domain handles.
Creating posts
Write your post in the Composer. Bluesky posts support up to 300 characters of text and up to 4 images. URLs in your text are automatically converted to clickable rich text links (facets), no special formatting needed. Just paste the URL and posterly handles the rest.
Images
Upload up to 4 images per post. Images are uploaded as blobs to your PDS before the post is created. JPEG, PNG, and WebP formats are supported. Add alt text for accessibility, it's passed through to Bluesky's image metadata.
Link cards
Paste a URL into the Composer and posterly attaches a rich preview card showing the page title, description, and thumbnail. The card is embedded natively in the post and links directly to the URL when tapped.
Quote posts, labels, and tags
Quote another Bluesky post by pasting its link into the Composer and selecting the quote option. The original post is embedded beneath your text, just as it appears natively on Bluesky. Apply a content warning or adult-content label when a post requires one, the label is displayed before viewers can see the post content. You can also add up to eight hidden tags per post: they help Bluesky surface your post to people browsing those topics without appearing in the visible post text.
Best practices
Bluesky's algorithm favours engagement and conversation. Posts with images tend to get more visibility. Use the scheduling feature to post during peak activity hours. The platform is growing quickly so establishing a consistent presence early pays off.
