How to Schedule Lemmy Posts with posterly
Connecting Lemmy
Go to Accounts, click Lemmy, and enter your instance domain (for example lemmy.world), username, and password. posterly logs in through the instance's own API, and if the session is ever invalidated it re-logs in automatically so scheduled posts keep publishing. Accounts with two-factor authentication are not supported yet, use a dedicated posting account if you want to keep TOTP on your main one.
Communities
Every Lemmy post lands in a community. Set the community per post using the short name for communities local to your instance (technology) or the full form for federated ones (technology@lemmy.world). Your account's instance needs to know about a federated community, searching for it once while logged in is enough to federate it.
How posts map
The first line of your caption becomes the post title and the rest becomes the body, with full markdown support. The first image you attach becomes the post's link embed, exactly how image posts look natively on Lemmy, and any additional images are added to the body as markdown. Posts can be flagged NSFW.
Best practices
Lemmy communities are moderated spaces with their own rules, read a community's sidebar before scheduling promotional content into it. Genuine, on-topic posts with descriptive titles do well; drive-by marketing gets removed. Posting consistently to a small set of relevant communities beats scattering posts everywhere.
