MCP connector

X (Twitter) MCP server

Schedule X posts, polls, and threads from Claude or ChatGPT.

This is the posterly MCP server, used for X (Twitter). The same connection works from Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, and other MCP clients. It is not a separate X (Twitter)-only download.

What you can do on X (Twitter)

Your AI client can publish to X with text, up to 4 images or one video (images and video cannot share a post), plus polls and multi-post threads. Give Claude the posts in order and it publishes them as one thread at the time you pick.

The default limit is 280 characters. Verified and premium accounts can use 4,000 characters and organization accounts 25,000, and posterly applies the limit that matches the connected account.

You can control who can reply, label a post as AI-generated or as a paid partnership, and mention another account by typing its @username. One current limit matters: X charges API callers for every post that contains a link, so posterly blocks X posts with URLs for now and asks you to remove them. get_x_posting_quota shows your workspace quota and whether URLs are blocked. The same connection reads your X analytics, so Claude can tell you which posts did best last week.

How to connect

  1. Add the hosted server in Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, or another MCP client. Server URL: https://www.poster.ly/api/mcp. Sign in with posterly OAuth and press Allow. Use the www host. In ChatGPT, write actions need a Business, Enterprise, or Edu plan.
  2. Or, in a client that can run a local process (Cursor, Claude Code, Windsurf, and similar), use npx -y posterly-mcp-server@latest with a POSTERLY_API_KEY placeholder in that client's MCP config.
  3. Call whoami and list_accounts so you know which workspace the client is using.
  4. Connect X (Twitter) with the method below, then call list_platforms with view=schema and the account_id.

FAQ

What is the X (Twitter) MCP server?

It is the posterly MCP server, not a separate product. Connect it once and the same connection covers X (Twitter) and 17 other platforms, from Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, and other MCP clients.

How do I connect X (Twitter)?

Add the hosted server at https://www.poster.ly/api/mcp and sign in with posterly, or run npx -y posterly-mcp-server@latest in a client that can start a local process. X (Twitter): Ask your AI client to start a connection, open the link it gives you, and approve access on the platform.

Can Claude post a thread on X?

Yes. Give it the posts in order and it publishes them as one thread at the time you choose. Each post follows the same character cap as a normal post, which depends on the connected account.

Can I include links in X posts from the MCP server?

Not right now. X charges API callers for every post that contains a URL, so posterly blocks X posts with links for now and asks you to remove them. get_x_posting_quota reports the current URL-blocking status for your workspace.
