MCP connector

Threads MCP server

Schedule Threads posts, polls, and connected threads from Claude or ChatGPT.

This is the posterly MCP server, used for Threads. The same connection works from Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, and other MCP clients. It is not a separate Threads-only download.

What you can do on Threads

Threads is built for short, frequent posts, and your AI client can publish text, images, video, carousels of up to 10 items, and polls. A post holds 500 characters, and a text-only post can add a text attachment of up to 10,000 characters for the long version of what you are saying.

For a connected thread, give the assistant the posts in order. You can also set who can reply, require approval for replies, add a topic tag, attach a GIPHY GIF, mark a spoiler, or publish a text-only ghost post. Polls take 2 to 4 options and run for 24 hours. Threads allows at most 5 unique links in one post, and eligible accounts linked to Instagram can share the post to Instagram Stories too.

On the Pro plan or higher, the same connection reads replies to your Threads posts and can reply to them or hide them. Threads has no direct messages, so only public replies are involved. Threads analytics are available as well.

How to connect

  1. Add the hosted server in Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, or another MCP client. Server URL: https://www.poster.ly/api/mcp. Sign in with posterly OAuth and press Allow. Use the www host. In ChatGPT, write actions need a Business, Enterprise, or Edu plan.
  2. Or, in a client that can run a local process (Cursor, Claude Code, Windsurf, and similar), use npx -y posterly-mcp-server@latest with a POSTERLY_API_KEY placeholder in that client's MCP config.
  3. Call whoami and list_accounts so you know which workspace the client is using.
  4. Connect Threads with the method below, then call list_platforms with view=schema and the account_id.
