Hashnode MCP server

Publish Markdown articles to your Hashnode blog from Claude or ChatGPT.

This is the posterly MCP server, used for Hashnode. The same connection works from Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, and other MCP clients. It is not a separate Hashnode-only download.

What you can do on Hashnode

Hashnode is your own blog, and posterly publishes to a Hashnode publication rather than a shared community feed. Your AI client writes a Markdown article, gives it a title, and publishes it to the publication that was captured when you connected, with up to 100,000 characters of body. The publication must be on Hashnode Pro, because Hashnode only opens its publishing API to Pro publications.

If you run more than one publication, tell the assistant which one and it can target it by ID. A post takes 4 tags at most, and the first attached image is used as the cover art. The connection uses a personal access token from your Hashnode account settings under Developer.

Unlike Dev.to, posterly does not set a canonical URL for Hashnode, so it fits articles that start life on your Hashnode blog. If a post began elsewhere, cross-post it to Dev.to with a canonical link instead. Articles are published live at the scheduled time, video is not supported, and the MCP server does not read Hashnode analytics.

Tools

These are the tools your AI client uses for Hashnode. Ask it to call list_platforms with view=schema and the account_id before it sets anything specific to Hashnode.

Account and connection

  • whoamiWho am I

  • list_accountsConnected accounts

  • list_platformsPlatforms

  • create_connect_sessionStart a connect session

  • connect_accountConnect with credentials

Posts

  • validate_postValidate a post

  • create_postCreate a post

Show the caption, account, and time, then wait for confirmation before confirm=true.

  • create_posts_batchCreate posts in bulk

  • list_postsPosts

  • get_postOne post

  • upload_mediaUpload media

Hosted requests are about 4MB, so this path is for small files. Large files use create_signed_upload or create_media_drop.

How to connect

  1. Add the hosted server in Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, or another MCP client. Server URL: https://www.poster.ly/api/mcp. Sign in with posterly OAuth and press Allow. Use the www host. In ChatGPT, write actions need a Business, Enterprise, or Edu plan.
  2. Or, in a client that can run a local process (Cursor, Claude Code, Windsurf, and similar), use npx -y posterly-mcp-server@latest with a POSTERLY_API_KEY placeholder in that client's MCP config.
  3. Call whoami and list_accounts so you know which workspace the client is using.
  4. Connect Hashnode with the method below, then call list_platforms with view=schema and the account_id.

Hashnode

Paste your credentials into the dashboard form. You can also give them to your AI client, but anything you type into a chat becomes part of that chat history.

FAQ

What is the Hashnode MCP server?

It is the posterly MCP server, not a separate product. Connect it once and the same connection covers Hashnode and 17 other platforms, from Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, and other MCP clients.

How do I connect Hashnode?

Add the hosted server at https://www.poster.ly/api/mcp and sign in with posterly, or run npx -y posterly-mcp-server@latest in a client that can start a local process. Hashnode: Paste your credentials into the dashboard form. You can also give them to your AI client, but anything you type into a chat becomes part of that chat history.

Do I need Hashnode Pro to publish from the MCP server?

Yes. Hashnode only opens its publishing API to Pro publications, so connecting or publishing fails with a clear error on a free one. Upgrade the publication to Hashnode Pro, then reconnect it in posterly.

Which Hashnode blog does the post go to?

The publication that was captured when you connected the account. If you run more than one publication, you can point a post at a different one by its ID.

How is Hashnode different from Dev.to in the MCP server?

Hashnode posts land on your own publication, which is your blog, while Dev.to posts land in the DEV Community feed. Dev.to supports a canonical URL for cross-posting and Hashnode does not, so start an article on Hashnode only when Hashnode is where it should live.
