MCP connector

Discord MCP server

Post to Discord channels from Claude or ChatGPT through a webhook, with no bot to install.

This is the posterly MCP server, used for Discord. The same connection works from Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, and other MCP clients. It is not a separate Discord-only download.

What you can do on Discord

Discord posting is built on webhooks, so there is nothing to install and no bot to approve. Create a webhook in a channel's settings, give posterly the URL, and your AI client can post text up to 2,000 characters, images, videos, and messages with up to 10 attachments to that channel.

Each webhook points at one channel, so connect one for every channel you want to post to, such as an announcements channel and a releases channel, and name the one you want in your request. Discord markdown works in the message, and attachments can carry alt text. Because the webhook is yours, you can revoke it from the channel settings whenever you like.

It suits scheduled announcements, release notes, and community updates that you would otherwise paste in by hand. A common pattern is to draft one announcement and have Claude adapt it for Discord, Slack, and Telegram together. Posting is one way: the MCP server publishes to the channel and does not read replies or analytics.

Tools

These are the tools your AI client uses for Discord. Ask it to call list_platforms with view=schema and the account_id before it sets anything specific to Discord.

How to connect

  1. Add the hosted server in Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, or another MCP client. Server URL: https://www.poster.ly/api/mcp. Sign in with posterly OAuth and press Allow. Use the www host. In ChatGPT, write actions need a Business, Enterprise, or Edu plan.
  2. Or, in a client that can run a local process (Cursor, Claude Code, Windsurf, and similar), use npx -y posterly-mcp-server@latest with a POSTERLY_API_KEY placeholder in that client's MCP config.
  3. Call whoami and list_accounts so you know which workspace the client is using.
  4. Connect Discord with the method below, then call list_platforms with view=schema and the account_id.

FAQ

What is the Discord MCP server?

It is the posterly MCP server, not a separate product. Connect it once and the same connection covers Discord and 17 other platforms, from Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, and other MCP clients.

How do I connect Discord?

Add the hosted server at https://www.poster.ly/api/mcp and sign in with posterly, or run npx -y posterly-mcp-server@latest in a client that can start a local process. Discord: Paste your credentials into the dashboard form. You can also give them to your AI client, but anything you type into a chat becomes part of that chat history.

Do I need to install a bot to post to Discord?

No. Each channel connects with a webhook URL that you create in the channel settings under Integrations, then Webhooks. There is no OAuth review and nothing to add to your server.

Can Claude post images and files to Discord?

Yes. A message can carry up to 10 attachments, with alt text, alongside text of up to 2,000 characters.
